Thank you.
Thank you for loving, and giving, time and time again. Thank you for demonstrating courage, sacrifice, and obedience. Thank you for answering God’s “call,” whatever that looks like in your life.
But does that call ever feel heavy? Constant? Exhausting? It can seem like there are more needs, more opportunities, and more responsibilities than are humanly possible. And yet you try.
You want to love your calling. You want to walk in the fullness of joy and the abundant life of Christ. You want to do more than just survive this gig. You’re even pretty sure you should have love and joy and peace — the real stuff — while you serve.
But you’re tired. And all those nice things I just mentioned seem elusive. I know. I’ve been there. Almost crashed and burned twice over the last twelve years of missions. But God didn’t let me.
He doesn’t want you to burn-out, give-up, give-in, or run away from it all, either. He has an invitation for you. It’s an invitation to be restored.
So what is crying out to be restored in your life? Hope? Peace? Joy? Creativity? Trust? A relationship? A dream? That fire that once burned so brightly? Say it out loud, or write it down, or sketch it — just do something to name that piece of you that is gasping for air, being crushed beneath the weight of it all. Because I promise you, God is not the one stepping on it.
You and your passions and your gifts and your relationships are not disposable in God’s economy. They are priceless treasures, and the Father longs to help you — even the almost-dead pieces of you — find room to breathe again. You are not defined by your calling, and while obedience does take sacrifice, it can be a sacrifice of praise from a joyful heart.
So hold on, Brave One, and let’s navigate these sometimes treacherous paths through the wilderness of faith together. I just can’t wait to take in the view with you.
